So my precious Nephew has been confirmed to have Lupus. Has been a bit of a shock for everyone to deal with, but as usual after the shock cleared it is time to pick up the boot straps learn as much as possible and kick this stuff in the rear end.

My school work got a little behind because I was researching Lupus this week.

Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs. Inflammation caused by lupus can affect many different body systems — including your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs.

Lupus can be difficult to diagnose because its signs and symptoms often mimic those of other ailments. The most distinctive sign of lupus — a facial rash that resembles the wings of a butterfly unfolding across both cheeks — occurs in many but not all cases of lupus.

Some people are born with a tendency toward developing lupus, which may be triggered by infections, certain drugs or even sunlight. While there’s no cure for lupus, treatments can help control symptoms.

On some levels I am very glad that it was diagnosed this early so my Nephew can be treated right away, on other levels it is upsetting because he is so young. He has a whole army in his little corner though and he has a good tough fighting spirit himself so I am sure this will not hold him down in life at all. I have also been doing some research on the benefit of having an assistant dog with issues like Lupus. They are not as commonly known as standard service dogs, but they are out there. Owner trained are more common then from service orgs. I think the foster dog Diva may have found a job in life because she adores my Nephew she is always very protective of him.

So..we will see where it goes.
